Minecraft Engineering with LEGO® - Venture into the world of Minecraft in our unique LEGO® experience. Get ready to build your base, craft your tools, use your Minecart to harvest raw resources, and battle to stop the Ender Dragon from ending the world. Come explore the endless possibilities of LEGO® with a trained Play-Well instructor. FALL SESSIONSCIENCE WIZARDS! - Come with us on this enchanting journey in the world of science! We will mix up some crazy and colorful potions, discover some magical and glowing tricks, create hair-rising, mystifying, and electrifying experiments, build levitating objects, discover precious stones, witness charming illusions and learn how it is all powered by science! Students will transform into Science Wizards! Every student receives a lab coat, goggles, and specially designed Mad Science Take Homes to help extend learning at home!Fall Session Dates: Thurs, Sept 22 - Oct 27Time: 3:50pm-4:50pmGrades: 1-5Location: SSES CafeteriaFee: $168WINTER WONDER LAB! - “Stay curious and keep exploring” in our Winter Wonder Lab where we will have an arctic blast and simulate one too! We will create snow that will never melt and melt a snowman the only will melt the Mad Science way! Winter forces will help us learn how to keep us balanced! Elephant Toothpaste and slime will create some heat in our icy lab! We will use special crisp pencils to make wintery lights and even see sparkly, colorful flames that resemble Northern Lights! 3:50 PM - 4:50 PM    Chess by CT Kids Play Chess, Inc. - Fall - Chess - Fall
Chess is the fun game of thinking. It has been proven to develop memory, concentration, focus, logical thinking and the ability to calculate. The first class will be a review of the basics. Subsequent classes will offer some simple rules the student can use to select a move throughout the game. Sessions will involve a combination of learning and supervised playing.  The last class will consist of a tournament with prizes. All participants must know how the pieces move and the basic rules of chess. Connecticut Kids Play Chess, Inc. (CKPCI) one of the largest chess teaching organizations in Connecticut, will once again run the program. Glenn Budzinski, the owner of CKPCI, a life-long chess teacher, Expert-rated player and certified chess tournament director, will teach the class. This is a 6-week session. Fall & Winter Basketball by Future StarsA comprehensive program for boys and girls ages 5-9. The program, as developed by USA TODAY'S Most Caring Coach, Jim Olayos is designed to teach the game of basketball by using proven methods and concepts. The program consists of instruction, contests and game play using age-appropriate equipment. The program also includes the award winning and nationally recognized “Lessons of Life” character development program. Each participant will receive a t-shirt and Future Stars Basketball Academy giveaways.
