Younger age groups focus on developing motor skills and self-confidence; older classes focus more on developing core soccer skills and personal focus, and introduce an element of light competition. Chess is the fun game of thinking. It has been proven to develop memory, concentration, focus, logical thinking and the ability to calculate. The first class will be a review of the basics. Subsequent classes will offer some simple rules the student can use to select a move throughout the game. Sessions will involve a combination of learning and supervised playing.  The last class will consist of a tournament with prizes. All participants must know how the pieces move and the basic rules of chess. Connecticut Kids Play Chess, Inc. (CKPCI) one of the largest chess teaching organizations in Connecticut, will once again run the program. Glenn Budzinski, the owner of CKPCI, a life-long chess teacher, Expert-rated player and certified chess tournament director, will teach the class. This is a 6-week session. Group Guitar Lessons Instructor: GlennStudents will need a guitar to participate. Please reach out to Keri (203)393-5597 if you need guidance on purchase/rental. -Students will learn to read the notes on the treble clef and how those apply on the guitar at a beginner level. -Students will learn to play and sight read the notes across all six strings from the open position up to the 3rd fret. -Students will learn to identify the rhythm of individual notes, rests and simple chords and how to “count” the rhythms and beats. -Students will learn simple but popular strumming patterns for chords and picking patterns for individual notes. Master James King of King Academy of Martial Arts & Self-defense (KAMAS Karate) will train students in the discipline of Tang Soo Do. As such, students in this program are guided and challenged in the basic principles of the art to introduce the underlining principles of conduct of Tang Soo Do (honesty, courtesy, integrity, self-control, perseverance, and indomitable spirit). Emphasis is placed on enhancing each student’s physical, mental, and social development to influence the positive life skills and characteristics of discipline and self-confidence. The techniques taught inclusive of all kicks, strikes, blocks, stances, forms, sparring, and self-defense are aligned to the traditional teachings of Tang Soo Do as sanction by the ATA. Students will have the opportunity to achieve belts and will test for belt advancement throughout the program. Chess is the fun game of thinking. It has been proven to develop memory, concentration, focus, logical thinking and the ability to calculate. The first class will be a review of the basics. Subsequent classes will offer some simple rules the student can use to select a move throughout the game. Sessions will involve a combination of learning and supervised playing.  The last class will consist of a tournament with prizes. All participants must know how the pieces move and the basic rules of chess. Connecticut Kids Play Chess, Inc. (CKPCI) one of the largest chess teaching organizations in Connecticut, will once again run the program. Glenn Budzinski, the owner of CKPCI, a life-long chess teacher, Expert-rated player and certified chess tournament director, will teach the class. This is a 6-week session. Master James King of King Academy of Martial Arts & Self-defense (KAMAS Karate) will train students in the discipline of Tang Soo Do. As such, students in this program are guided and challenged in the basic principles of the art to introduce the underlining principles of conduct of Tang Soo Do (honesty, courtesy, integrity, self-control, perseverance, and indomitable spirit). Emphasis is placed on enhancing each student’s physical, mental, and social development to influence the positive life skills and characteristics of discipline and self-confidence. The techniques taught inclusive of all kicks, strikes, blocks, stances, forms, sparring, and self-defense are aligned to the traditional teachings of Tang Soo Do as sanction by the ATA. Chess is the fun game of thinking. It has been proven to develop memory, concentration, focus, logical thinking and the ability to calculate. The first class will be a review of the basics. Subsequent classes will offer some simple rules the student can use to select a move throughout the game. Sessions will involve a combination of learning and supervised playing.  The last class will consist of a tournament with prizes. All participants must know how the pieces move and the basic rules of chess. Connecticut Kids Play Chess, Inc. (CKPCI) one of the largest chess teaching organizations in Connecticut, will once again run the program. Glenn Budzinski, the owner of CKPCI, a life-long chess teacher, Expert-rated player and certified chess tournament director, will teach the class. This is a 6-week session. Please reach out to Keri (203)393-5597 if you need guidance on purchase/rental. -Students will learn to read the notes on the treble clef and how those apply on the guitar at a beginner level. -Students will learn to play and sight read the notes across all six strings from the open position up to the 3rd fret. -Students will learn to identify the rhythm of individual notes, rests and simple chords and how to “count” the rhythms and beats. -Students will learn simple but popular strumming patterns for chords and picking patterns for individual notes.
