Our chefs-in-training will learn how the addition of spices and herbs (not hot spicy) can transform food and provide added nutritional benefits too. Each class will highlight an herb or spice including basil, rosemary, garlic, vanilla, and cinnamon! We will make Black Bean Sliders, Rosemary Crackers, Enchiladas, and more! Our little chefs will build on their knowledge of cooking safety and the fundamental cooking techniques including peeling, breading, blending, melting, slicing, dicing, chopping and more. Spring - NASA! - Take a voyage of discovery into the atmosphere and beyond! Explore planets, moons and other space phenomena in our solar system. Discover the difficulties of space travel, the challenges of living in space and try assembling a satellite while training to be an astronaut. Build your own Mad Science rocket and be a part of a launch while we investigate the four forces of flight. Every student receives a lab coat, goggles, and specially designed NASA Take Homes to help extend learning at home!Spring Session: Thurs, 4/25-5/30This is a 6-week session. Tang Soo Do - KAMAS Karate - Tang Soo Do
Master James King of King Academy of Martial Arts & Self-defense (KAMAS Karate) will train students in the discipline of Tang Soo Do. As such, students in this program are guided and challenged in the basic principles of the art to introduce the underlining principles of conduct of Tang Soo Do (honesty, courtesy, integrity, self-control, perseverance, and indomitable spirit). Emphasis is placed on enhancing each student’s physical, mental, and social development to influence the positive life skills and characteristics of discipline and self-confidence. The techniques taught inclusive of all kicks, strikes, blocks, stances, forms, sparring, and self-defense are aligned to the traditional teachings of Tang Soo Do as sanction by the ATA. Students will have the opportunity to achieve belts and will test for belt advancement throughout the program. Spring - NASA! - Take a voyage of discovery into the atmosphere and beyond! Explore planets, moons and other space phenomena in our solar system. Discover the difficulties of space travel, the challenges of living in space and try assembling a satellite while training to be an astronaut. Build your own Mad Science rocket and be a part of a launch while we investigate the four forces of flight. Tang Soo Do - KAMAS Karate - Tang Soo Do
Master James King of King Academy of Martial Arts & Self-defense (KAMAS Karate) will train students in the discipline of Tang Soo Do. As such, students in this program are guided and challenged in the basic principles of the art to introduce the underlining principles of conduct of Tang Soo Do (honesty, courtesy, integrity, self-control, perseverance, and indomitable spirit). Emphasis is placed on enhancing each student’s physical, mental, and social development to influence the positive life skills and characteristics of discipline and self-confidence. The techniques taught inclusive of all kicks, strikes, blocks, stances, forms, sparring, and self-defense are aligned to the traditional teachings of Tang Soo Do as sanction by the ATA. Students will have the opportunity to achieve belts and will test for belt advancement throughout the program. Youth indoor tennis lessons at Samuel Staples Elementary School late fall, winter & spring this year. Classes will focus on teaching basic strokes along with playing lots of games. This is for beginners/advanced beginners. Portable nets will be used and classes will be taught by certified instructors.
